Simone Bishop is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist who provides counselling and psychotherapy for adults and adolescents. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology from Murdoch University (2004) and a Master’s in Psychology (Counselling) from Curtin University. Simone has extensive experience across a range of interdisciplinary settings, including private psychiatric hospitals and the child protection sector.
Her therapeutic approach is relaxed, person-centred, and trauma-informed, creating a safe space for clients to explore their experiences at their own pace. Drawing on research into the mind-body connection, Simone takes a holistic and multidimensional approach – considering the physical, social and emotional aspects of mental health, and how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours influence our wellbeing.
Simone works with a broad range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, parenting and attachment, perinatal mental health, grief and loss, and trauma. Simone also holds a special interest in supporting people living with chronic pain and chronic health conditions. For over a decade, she has worked extensively with clients managing Type 1 Diabetes, autoimmune conditions, and other long-term health challenges.
Simone holds advanced training in body-oriented and neurobiologically informed trauma therapies, as well as in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for chronic pain. At Australian Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (AKAP), Simone collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of physicians in Pain Medicine and Psychiatry, providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to individuals undergoing inpatient ketamine infusion therapy.
Because each person’s experiences are unique, Simone draws from an integrative and flexible therapeutic framework, informed by her training in:
